About

Published by Tim Peoples

“Refuge” is the Internet home of freelance writer Tim Peoples. I am a professional technical/medical writer. I am also a fiction writer.  I am available at timpeoples at gmail dot com.

…my interests

My interests include literature, religion, and literary criticism. I am particularly interested in British literature of the Restoration through the pre-Romantic period, British contemporary, British Renaissance, and American contemporary literature.

…my favorites

My favorite authors (works) include Jonathan Swift (A Tale of a Tub, Gulliver’s Travels), Neil Gaiman (American Gods), Douglas Coupland (Microserfs), Flannery O’Connor (The Violent Bear It Away), John Milton (Paradise Lost), William Shakespeare (The Tempest), and Lemony Snicket (The Slippery Slope).

My favorite filmmakers (films) include Orson Welles (F for Fake), Woody Allen (Manhattan), Charlie Kaufman (Adaptation), Alexander Payne (About Schmidt), and Christopher Nolan (Memento).

…this site

This page succeeds blogs (of the same name) on Squarespace and Blogger. The best posts from these outdated sites have been added to the archives of this site. The layout was created with a Wordpress template (see footer links) and was edited by Cecy Correa. “Refuge” is parked and hosted by GoDaddy.

“Refuge” is a personal endeavor. I am solely responsible for the content on this site, and I do not represent my employer or commercial clients–all of whom will remain unnamed.

…my comments policy

I’ve never had reason to have a comments policy, but here it is, just in case: All comments are moderated.

I’m generally okay with long, even rambling comments. I’m generally okay with off-the-topic comments. Really, I am. I’m never okay with ad hominem attacks, spam, needless profanity, unrelated plugs,* and hate speech. All such comments will be rejected, and their posters may be banned from commenting.

*Which I consider a form of spam. For example, I wrote a post on medical ethics and some random guy attached a comment to it with the express purpose of directing my readers to his nutty anti-drug industry site. And I’m a professional medical writer. Which was noted prominently on my site. A little audience analysis, anyone?
